Cowgirl Tennis Loses Heartbreaker To Rams

LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team lost a disappointing match, 4-3, to the Colorado State Rams, on Friday afternoon, in Laramie.
Things looked good as the Cowgirls took the doubles point by winning two out of the three matches. The doubles team of Corina Lazar and Amy Senko earned a tough 9-8 victory over the team of Jessica Jones and Carla Pallares, while Andrea House and Gwen Moser had an easy time with Alexandra Paganetti and Jasmin Singh, 8-4. Unfortunately, the team of Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski fell short, 8-2, against Anne Andersen and Emily Kirchem.
In singles play, the Cowgirls managed to take only two of the six matches. At the number one spot, junior Patricia Chien defeated Dasha Zhurin, 6-2, 2-1 (ret.), while Kim Romero came back from a first set loss and defeated Carla Pallares, 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-2. After winning the first set, 6-2, Corina Lazar couldn't hold on against Emily Kirchem, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1. Sophomore Karolina Rowinski also had a tough day falling in three sets, 5-7, 7-5, 7-5. The Rams wrapped up the match with Jessica Jones winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, over Andrea House, and Alexandra Paganetti over Amy Senko, 6-4, 6-1.
Wyoming will continue play tomorrow morning as they host the Air Force Academy Falcons beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the UW Tennis Courts.
