Cowgirl Tennis Rebounds With 6-1 Win Over New Mexico

In their final home match of the 2012 season, the 59th ranked Wyoming Tennis team (11-8 overall, 3-2 MW) defeated the New Mexico Lobos (8-10 overall, 1-5 MW) on Sunday morning in Laramie.
"It was a great win to close out the regular home season," said interim head coach Dean Clower. "I'm proud of how the team rebounded with a solid match. We need to have a good week of practice in order to get ready for CSU."
The Cowgirls got off to a strong start as they swept all three matches to win the doubles point. The 45th ranked team of Veronica Popovici and Simona Synkova beat Michaela Bezdickova and Maria Sablina, 8-4. They were followed by Alexandra Kovacs and Sasa Nemcova with an 8-2 win over Kristin Eggleston and Michaela Oldani. Jessica Parizher and Silviya Zhelyazkova wrapped it up by defeating Alyssa Caffey and Laura Richardson, 8-5.
Wyoming's dominance continued in singles play by winning at the two, three, four, five and six spots. Synkova defeated Sablina in two sets, 6-2, 6-2, followed by Kovacs beating Eggleston, 6-2, 6-3. Nemcova won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, over Caffey followed by Parizher against Oldani, 6-1, 6-2. Zhelyazkova closed it out with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Richardson.
The Cowgirls will have one conference match next week as they travel to Ft. Collins to face the Colorado State Rams. The match is set for 12:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. if there is inclement weather.
