Wyoming Tennis Suffers Loss To Aztecs

FT. COLLINS, Colo. -
The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team dropped their opening match of the weekend to the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday morning in Ft. Collins, Colo. The Cowgirls are now 8-10 overall and 1-5 in the MWC, while the Aztecs improve to 11-8 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
In doubles play, San Diego State gained the upper hand as they swept all three matches. The number one team of Corina Lazar and Amy Senko fell to Indra Erichsen and Nina Spaeth, 8-4. Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski had a battle has they lost a tough one, 9-8 (3), to Dita Hauerlandova and Aleysa Vidov at the No. 2 spot, while the team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser came up short against Sisse Nielsen and Carla Bell, 8-4.
The Cowgirls also fell short as San Diego State took five of the six singles matches led by Alesya Vidov with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Patricia Chien. Freshman Corina Lazar battled until the end but was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Dita Hauerlandova at the second spot. The Aztecs Eliska Krausova won in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 over sophomore Andrea House, while Kim Romero fell 6-0, 6-0 to Nina Spaeth at the No. 5 spot. Amy Senko also had a tough time with Sisse Nielsen as she lost 6-4, 6-3. The only Cowgirl to come away with a win was sophomore Karolina Rowinski with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Andrea Hermansen.
Wyoming will wrap up play tomorrow against UNLV tomorrow morning in Ft. Collins.
