Cowgirl Tennis Ends Road Trip With Loss to 27th Ranked TCU

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Wyoming tennis team (7-14 overall, 1-6 MWC) closed out their two match road trip with a 7-0 loss against the 27th ranked TCU Frogs, on Friday, in Albuquerque, N.M.TCU jumped out early by winning all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. The number one team of Katariina Tuohimma and Kayla Duncan defeated UW's Sarah Summerfield and Carly Van Hollen, 8-3. Rebecca Berger and Jamie Nelson fell to Anna Sydorska and Idunn Hertzberg, 8-2, while the team of Gaby Mastromarino and Maria Babanova won by default at the number three spot. It continued to be all Frogs in singles play despite some good efforts by the Cowgirls. Rebecca Berger took her opponent, Duncan, to three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 10-8 as did Carly Van Hollen against Hertzberg, 6-3, 6-7 (5-10), 11-9. Summerfield lost to Katariina Tuohimma, 6-4, 6-2. In the number four spot, Nelson lost in two sets, 6-2, 6-2, against Mastromarino while Sydorska closed things out against Chaix, 6-0, 6-2. Wyoming will close out the regular season next weekend as they host the Colorado State Rams. The match is set for Sunday, April 19, beginning at 1 p.m.
