Wyoming Tennis Has Tough Go With Lady Rebels

Ft. Collins, Colo.- The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team closed out the weekend with a loss to the UNLV Lady Rebels on Sunday morning in Ft. Collins, Colo. The Cowgirls are now 8-11 overall and 1-6 in the MWC, while the Lady Rebels improve to 11-6 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
In doubles play, UNLV gained the upper hand as they took two of the three matches. At the number two spot, the team of Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski earned an 8-1 victory over Claire Smith and Gyorgyi Zsiros. The number one team of Kim Romero and Amy Senko fell to Elena Gantcheva and Sharon Mann, 8-1, while the team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser lost to Anne Claire Ortiz-Louis and Templefelde, 8-3.
The Cowgirls also fell short as UNLV needed only three singles victories to take the match. Gyorgyi Zsiros defeated Corina Lazar in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, as did Anne Claire Ortiz-Louis, 6-3, 6-2, over Karolina Rowinski. The Lady Rebels sealed the match as Sharon Mann defeated Andrea House, 6-1, 6-1, at the number four position. Patricia Chien was up one set, 6-2, but down in the second before her match was called, while Amy Senko and Gwen Moser didn't have a chance to play in their matches.
Wyoming will play one final non-conference match next weekend as they host the Northern Colorado Bears, on Sunday, April 17 at noon.
