"We are extremely proud of the players for their discipline and fight during this match," said head coach Dean Clower. "We have been working very hard on the small aspects of the game and they put it all together today. We want to say a huge thank you to all the fans and the Cowboy swimming and diving team for their support. It's awesome we have such a great environment to compete in.'
In doubles play, the Cowgirls took the lead early with wins at the second and third positions. Christa Gecheva and Alma Espinosa battled their way back after falling behind 4-3 to win the match 8-7 (7-2) over Anissa Bryant-Swift and Teal Vosburgh. Wyoming carried that momentum over to singles action by taking four of six matches. Jonas would lose the first set 6-0, but rallied back with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Bryant-Swift. Zhelyazkova swept Vosburgh, 6-0, 6-1, followed by Vasileva beating Basil, 6-3, 6-1. Espinosa also needed three sets as she defeated Watson, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0.
