Wyoming Tennis Falls to Horned Frogs
April 15, 2007
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -
The Cowgirl tennis team closed out MWC play with a 7-0 loss against the TCU Horned Frogs, on Sunday afternoon, in Albuquerque. Wyoming now moves to 6-14 overall and 2-6 in the league.
"It was a tough couple of matches for us this weekend," said UW head coach Krissy Hall. "Both New Mexico and TCU are very good teams, and I still felt like we took something away from these matches. We need to regroup as a team and prepare for our final match against Northern Colorado and the MWC tournament."
TCU won the first point of the day as they won all three matches in doubles play. The team of Anna Sydorska and Nina Munch-Soegaard defeated Wyoming's Andrea House and Karolina Rowinski, 8-2. Cowgirls Michelle Brown and Corina Lazar lost to Kewa Nichols and Ana Cetnik, 8-2, at the number two spot while UW's Carolina Chaix and Jamie Nelson lost to Andrea Morgado and Karine Ionesco, 8-1.
In singles play, the Frogs won all six singles matches. At the number one spot, Rowinski fell against Munch-Soegaard, 6-2, 6-2. Lazar battled until the end but came up short in three sets, 6-7 (6), 6-2, 11-9, while Brown fell in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, to Cetnik. Nelson lost to Morgado, 6-0, 6-3, while House came up short, 6-3, 6-2 against Nichols. At the number six position, Chaix was defeated by Ionesco, 6-2, 6-2.
The Cowgirls will close out regular season, on Monday, April 23, as they make up the match against the Northern Colorado Bears.
