Wyoming Tennis Falls To Horned Frogs, 6-1

The Cowgirl Tennis team (11-8 overall, 1-5 in MWC) closed out the weekend wiht a 6-1 loss to the 73rd ranked TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday morning in Colorado Springs.
In doubles action, TCU earned the first point of the day by winning two out of three matches. Simona Synkova and Kim van Ginkel defeated Katariina Tuohimaa and Maria Babanova, 9-8 (5). The number two team of Rebecca Berger and Alexandra Kovacs fell to Olivia Smith and Federica Denti, 8-2, while Gaby Mastromarino and Idunn Hertzberg defeated Veronica Popovici and Carly Van Hollen, 9-7.
The Horned Frogs took five of six matches to win the match. The only Cowgirl to win was Rebecca Berger who defeated Idunn Hertzberg, 6-3, 6-4. At the number one position, Veronica Popovici lost to Katariina Tuohimaa in three sets, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4, as did Alexandra Kovacs against Gaby Mastromarino, 7-6, 0-6, 6-4. Olivia Smith won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, over Simona Syknova. TCU closed things out with Federica Denti taking a two set victory, 6-1, 6-4, against Kim van Ginkel and Shalini Sahoo earning a three set win, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, against Carly Van Hollen.
Wyoming will be at home next week as they host the Colorado State Rams, on Friday, April 22 and the Air Force Academy Falcons on Sunday, April 24.
