LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming women's tennis team was defeated by Utah 4-1 Friday in the second round of the Mountain West Conference Tennis Championships in Ft. Collins, Colo.

Freshman Jenny Bowman won her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-3 over Cassie Kasteler. Bowman also teamed with senior Angela Dossetor in doubles action to defeat the Utah team of Heidi Thomas and Frida Kerald 8-3 in the No. 1 slot.

The Cowgirls will now move on to face the loser of the UNLV-Air Force match at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the seventh-place match.

"We lost a hard-fought doubles match that gave the team doubles point to Utah," said Wyoming head coach Pam Wildt. "We never recovered from that. Jenny played well and she is really establishing herself as our number one player. All we can do now is get ready for Saturday and try to get a win."
