Cowgirls Come Up Short In Consolation Round

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -
The sixth-seeded Colorado State Rams knocked off the seventh-seeded Wyoming Cowgirls, 4-0, in the consolation bracket of the 2005 Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Championships Friday morning in San Diego.
The Rams gained control of the match early by earning the doubles point with wins at the number two and three spots. In number two doubles, Jessica Jones and Carla Pallares defeated Corina Lazar and Amy Senko, 8-2, while Dasha Zhurin and Alexandra Paganetti earned an 8-0 win over Andrea House and Gwen Moser. The team of Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski did not finish their match against Anne Andersen and Emily Kirchem.
CSU then continued their success in the singles portion of the match, picking up wins at the number three, four and six spots. At the number three position, Anne Andersen defeated Karolina Rowinski in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, to give the Rams their second team point. Carla Pallares picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Andrea House, while Alexandra Paganetti wrapped up the dual match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Andrea House.
The Cowgirls wrap up their season with an overall record of 9-13 overall and a 1-6 mark in the Mountain West Conference.
