Cowgirl Tennis Resumes Play At Wyoming Invitational

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Cowgirl tennis team continued their second day of play at the Wyoming Cowgirl Invitational in Laramie on Saturday.
In doubles play the team of Carolina Chaix and Jamie Nelson fell to Natalia Agarycheva and Jodi Ciarvella of Northern Colorado, 8-5, but rebounded with an 8-4 victory against Lisa Clark and Remy Clark (Montana State) to take third place in flight two. Freshmen Rebecca Berger and Carly Van Hollen defeated Ashley Schapper and Kaya Adamson of Weber State, 8-5, unfortunately they fell to Christine Abayan and Erlyn Rudico, 8-4, in their second match of the day. Michelle Brown and Corina Lazar had a tough match as lost to Caitlin Flegge and Anette Pohjalaninen of Colorado State, 8-3, but came back with an 8-6 win over Kiser and Monreal of Air Force. They will play Ashley Schapper and Kaya Adamson tomorrow.
Senior Michelle Brown went 2-0 in singles play for the day. She defeated Jodi Ciarvella (UNC), 6-3, 7-5, and then battled for a three set win, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-3, over Allison Fey of Montana State. Brown will play in the championship match of the White Singles Bracket on Sunday. In that same flight, Carolina Chaix fell to Sammy Sarkis of Air Force, 6-2, 6-1, but came back and defeated Katie Brown (Colorado State), 7-6 (3), 6-2, to move in to the third place match tomorrow. Rebecca Berger defeated Greyce Farias of Weber State, 6-2, 6-0, she will play Greer Satherlie (CSU) tomorrow. Both Jamie Nelson and Carly Van Hollen lost in their quarterfinal matches.
The Wyoming Invitational will wrap up play Sunday morning.
