Wyoming Tennis Completes Second Day of Competition

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team continued play at the Colorado Invitational, on Saturday, in Boulder.

In doubles action, all three teams continued play. The team of Sasa Nemcova and Alexandra Kovacs were the only ones to come away with a victory. They defeated Saari-Bystrom and Isberg of Denver, 9-7. In other action, Veronica Popovici and Jessica Parizher fell to Elena Najera and Caroline Schnell, 9-7, as did Simona Synkova and Christa Gecheva, 8-4, to Lukomskaya and Paulson of Arkansas.

The Cowgirls had a tough day in singles play. Sasa Nemcova was the only player to make it into the finals tomorrow. She defeated Gariella Boboc of Denver 6-3, 6-0, and will play Laurie Gingras of Arkansas. Christa Gecheva lost to Laurie Gingras in the semifinals, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (7), 6-3. In the Buff Gold singles bracket, Jessica Parizher fell in three sets, 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-3, while Veronica Popovici lost in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, to Madeleine Saari-Bystrom of Denver. The two other Cowgirls in action Simona Synkova lost to Caroline Schnell, 6-3, 6-0, and Alma Espinosa lost twice in the Buff Black backdraw.

The Cowgirls will continue play tomorrow with both singles and doubles action.
