COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.

The University of Wyoming tennis team completed play at the USAFA Invitational, on Saturday, in Colorado Springs.

Sophomore Andrea House had a solid day as she finished 2-0 in the consolation bracket of flight six singles play. She earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jenny Hanson of Colorado, and a straight set win, 6-2, 6-0, against Elisa Bonner of New Mexico. Kim Romero placed seventh with a tough three set win, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, over Katherine Palider of UTEP.

Freshman Corina Lazar fell short in her finals match against Crystal Knysh of Denver, 6-3, 6-0, as did Michelle Brown in her round robin match, 6-4, 6-3, against Jane McDonald of Air Force. Sophomore Karolina Rowinski also lost her fifth place match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, against Kendall Exelby of UTEP.

Patricia Chien and Amy Senko also had a tough day. Chien lost to Tea Spirta of UTEP, and Amy Senko fell to Heather Reynolds of GSU, 7-6, 6-2.

In doubles action, the team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser went 2-0 on the day as they defeated Bonner and Davis of New Mexico, 8-1, and Vaccaro and Shortridge of Air Force, 8-3. The team of Corina Lazar and Kim Romero went 1-1. They defeated McDonald and Wilson of Air Force, 8-5, but came up short against Ginsburg and Knysh of Denver, 8-5. In their only match of the day, the team of Michelle Brown and Amy Senko defeated Burton and Elms of Air Force, 8-0.

The Cowgirls will resume play next weekend at the Central Regional Tournament, Sept. 19-24, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
