Wyoming Tennis Wraps Up Singles Play at the USAFA Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The University of Wyoming tennis team completed play with four rounds of singles matches, this past Saturday and Sunday, at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs.
Sophomore Corina Lazar rebounded after a first round loss to Jessica Vanderdys of Colorado (6-2, 6-1) with three straight victories to win the singles flight one consolation bracket. She defeated Anne Andersen of Colorado State (7-6 (4), 6-3), Renee Nuccio of Northern Colorado (6-2, 6-1) and Lauren Wilson of Air Force (6-2, 6-1). In singles flight three, Andrea House came back with two wins over Greer Satherlie of Colorado State (6-4, 6-4) and Carmon Vasos of Northern Colorado (2-6, 6-4 (15-13) after an earlier loss to Meghan Kiser of Air Force (6-4, 6-3).
Junior Amy Senko closed out Sunday with a 2-1 overall record. She defeated Carla Pallares (Default) and Erika Shortridge of Air Force (6-0, 6-2). Karolina Rowinski defeated Wendi Webster of Wichita State in three sets (6-2, 2-6 (10-4) as did Michelle Brown with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Christina Shelly. Senior Gwen Moser also closed out her day on Sunday with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
"We had a really good day on Sunday," said head coach Kristen Hall. "I was very pleased with the way we played and thought we closed out the tournament on a positive note, which will help us prepare for regionals in the next couple of weeks."
The Cowgirls will wrap up fall play on Oct. 19 at the Central Regional Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah.
