Wyoming Doubles Team Gets Big Wins at Central Regionals

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -
The Wyoming tennis team had a good day in doubles play on Thursday at the ITA Central Region Championship competition in Salt Lake City, Utah
The team of Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski earned an 8-6 victory over Melissa Cornett and Vlata Jovanovic of Arkansas, then highlighted the day with an amazing win over the ninth seeded team of Kim Hartmann and Milena Schulz-Gartner of Nebraska. They will now take on the team of Olga Boulytcheva and Sofia Holden of BYU in the next round, Friday afternoon, at 4:00 p.m.
In the main draw of singles play, senior Patricia Chien lost her first match of the day in two sets, 6-3, 6-2, to Megan Biorkman of Boise State. She will play in the consolation bracket of the main draw tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
"I'm so extremely proud of the doubles of Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski," said head coach Kristen Hall. "It was a great win to beat a team of that caliber in Nebraska. We look forward to what tomorrow will bring us."
