Cowgirl Tennis Gets Two Wins at Central Region Championships

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

To round out the 2001 Omni Hotels Central Region Championship, University of Wyoming tennis players Jenny Bowman and Jennifer Hancock finished up the competition after each winning one singles match.

Hancock was the first to chalk up a win. She lost her first match but won her second on Thurs., Oct. 25 in the qualifying singles draw.

Bowman was defeated in the first round of the main draw by the number three seed of the tournament. In the consolation bracket, Bowman won her first match in two sets but fell short in her third and final singles competition.

Bowman and Hancock lost their first doubles match on Thurs., Oct. 25 and could not come away victorious in the doubles back draw on Fri., Oct. 26, either. Bowman and Hancock were eliminated after falling to Kmiec and Dille from Northern Arizona, 8-5.

The Central Region Tournament finishes up a productive fall season for the Cowgirls. Spring matches kick off in Feb., 2002.
