This Week: The University of Wyoming women's tennis team will be off until March 11 when it embarks on a four-match roadtrip. The Cowgirls will face Sam Houston State, TCU, North Texas and SMU.
Cowgirls Defeat Montana State 5-2: Wyoming won two close matches in the middle of the lineup to secure a 5-2 tennis victory over Montana State Sunday in Laramie. Senior Angela Dossetor and freshman Toni Terhaar both won three-set tiebreaker matches to give Wyoming a 3-2 lead after the Cowgirls had fallen behind 2-1. Dossetor defeated Colleen Cohee 5-7, 6-3 (11-9) in the No. 3 singles match. Terhaar beat Susan Risteen 6-3, 4-6 (10-6) in the No. 4 singles match. The Cowgirls fell behind 1-0 after Montana State won the doubles team point by winning two of the three doubles matches. The UW team of Sofi Espinosa and Yuliani Santi won their doubles match 8-4 over Liz Lowrance and Cohee. Wyoming's other doubles teams of Jenny Bowman/Dossetor and Paulina del Monte/Terhaar were both defeated. In the No. 1 singles match Cowgirl freshman Bowman defeated Ali Jensen 7-5, 6-2. The win marked the first of the day for Wyoming and gave the Cowgirls some momentum heading into singles action. After the critical singles victories by Dossetor and Terhaar, Wyoming closed out the match with wins by a pair of freshman in Santi and Jennifer Hancock. Santi defeated Rachel Drummond 7-5, 6-3 and Hancock beat Lowrance 6-1, 7-6 in a hard-fought match.

Cowgirls Ranked #15 in Central Region: Wyoming began the spring season ranked #15 in the Central Region according to the latest ITA rankings. The Cowgirls are tied with Missouri and Colorado State at the #15 spot. There are a total of 32 teams in the Central Region.

pleased with our performance. We won a couple of huge singles matches
in the tiebreaker set. It was great to see Angela win a close one, she
seems like she's always right there. Hopefully this win gives her
confidence for the rest of the spring season. All of our girls played
hard and played well for us. It's always nice to play at home and I'm
glad we were able to get a win here in Laramie."
