Cowgirl Tennis Inks One

LARAMIE, Wyo. -
University of Wyoming head tennis coach Kristen Hall today announced the signing of Sarah Summerfield to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wyoming beginning in the fall of 2006. This is the first signing of the year for the Cowgirl Tennis program and Coach Hall.
"I am thrilled that Sarah has decided to join the Cowgirl tennis family," said Hall. "She is an outstanding tennis player and will make an immediate impact in our line-up. Sarah's best tennis is still ahead of her and I am looking forward to watching her grow both on and off the court in the four years to come. Off the court, she is an amazing person and will represent our program and the University of Wyoming with integrity and class."

Sarah Summerfield, Chester, N.J. (West Morris Mendham HS):
A two-time All-Iron Hills Conference selection while attending West Morris Mendham High School in Mendham, New Jersey. She was a county champion for three years straight and finished this last season ranked third in the state. A four year letterwinner in tennis, she helped her team to four Iron Hills Conference and County titles. During her sophomore and junior years, the team also won the sectional championship and the Group three championships in 2004. She has been very involved as a junior competitor with the both the USTA and ITF. During that time, Summerfield she also reached the semifinals of the Aruba International Junior ITF tournament in both singles and doubles in July of 2005, while finishing in the quarterfinals of several other ITF events. She has been coached by Edward Chando. An excellent student, she has been involved in several school activities. The daughter of Gary and Shirley Summerfield.
"I can't wait to attend the University of Wyoming," said Summerfield. "I'm really looking forward to being a Cowgirl and becoming a part of the growing tradition of the women's tennis team."
