Prior to Northeastern, Luong was an assistant with the University of New Hampshire, and helped coordinate the New Hampshire Seacoast Junior Olympic Volleyball Program.

As an undergraduate, he played four years on the Ferris State men's club team. Luong is a graduate of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., earning a bachelor's degree in business management and a minor in finance from there in 1995.

"Phuong spent some productive hours with our outside hitters and defensive specialist this past year. His interest in the sport really shows in those who work with him. He also was a true asset in the production of our summer camps."
