LARAMIE, Wyo. -- The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team (13-10 overall, 6-5 in the MWC) ended their weekend on a high note as they defeated the San Diego State Aztecs (3-20 overall, 3-7 in the MWC) in three games (30-23, 30-25, 30-22) on Saturday night in Laramie.

"I thought we played a better game," Stangle said. "We talked last night about how we didn't make the little plays. Tonight we not only made the plays that show up in the stats, we made the little plays. We picked up some balls that we didn't do last night. It allowed us to keep us on our highs and keep tem on their lows a little longer. It allowed us to go on some streaks. Early in all of these games it was kind of close. There was a point where went ahead four, five six points. We were able to maintain that."

Two players finished the night in double-figures, including freshman Rachel Smith. She recorded a team high 21 kills and a .567 (21-4-30) hitting percentage, along with five digs and four total blocks. Outside hitter Andrea Tuck also chipped in 11 kills and five digs. As a team, Wyoming hit .393 (63-17-117) compared to .231 (44-20-104) by the Aztecs.

San Diego State was led by Melissa Stapley, who recorded 13 kills and ten digs. The Aztecs did however out block the Cowgirls 9- 5.5.

The Cowgirls will play their final home match of the season next weekend as they host the Colorado State Rams on Friday night. The match, which is set to begin at 7:00 p.m., is also the final home match for seniors Amy Doman, Vanessa Latimer, Sara Maytorena and Jill Roslund.
