Wyoming Volleyball Comes Up Short Against Utes

The Cowgirl Volleyball Team (13-12 overall, 6-7 in the MWC) opened up the weekend with a three game loss (16-30, 22-30, 26-30) to the 17th ranked Utah Utes (21-3 overall, 13-0 in the MWC) on Friday night in Salt Lake City.
The Cowgirls struggled offensively in this match as they only managed to .070 (31-22-128) for the match compared to .266 (51-17-128) by the Utes. They were led by freshman Andrea Tuck with nine kills and four digs. She was followed by Rachel Smith with seven kills and Andrea Seele with six kills. Seele led the team with a .429 (6-0-14) hitting percentage, while freshman Michelle Weydert recorded 11 digs.
Utah was led by Lyndsey Henderson who recorded 14 kills and 11 block assists. She was followed by Shelly Sommerfeldt and Kelsie Kartchner with 12 kills. The Utes also out blocked the Cowgirls 13-2 for the match.
The Cowgirls will wrap up regular season conference play tomorrow night against the BYU Cougars, in Provo, at 7:00 p.m.
