The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team (17-13 overall, 7-9 MW) closed out the weekend with an impressive three-set win over the New Mexico Lobos (20-7 overall, 10-6 MW) on Saturday night in Laramie.

Bridget Shanahan finished her night with a team high ten kills plus four total blocks. Laura Beach recorded nine kills, while Kayla Slofkiss hit a match high .667 (8-0-12). Libero Becky Stewart finished with a team high 16 kills while Rachel Keyes had 31 assists. Wyoming hit a season high .425 (42-5-87) on the night while out blocking the Lobos, 11-2.

New Mexico was led by Devanne Sours with a team high nine kills and .138 (9-5-29) hitting percentage. She was followed by Chantale Riddle with seven kills. The Lobos hit just .010 (26-25-99) on the night.

"That is probably the best we've played both offensively and defensively," said head coach Chad Callihan. "There have been several matches where it's been one or the other, but tonight it was nice to see us put it all together. We've been practicing really well over the past couple of weeks, but when we got into matches we couldn't execute the same way. Win or lose we know what we are capable of and what we've been striving for."

It was all tied up through the first six points of the first set until the Cowgirls took a 5-3 lead. After a point by the Lobos, Wyoming went on a 9-2 run to give them the eight point advantage, 14-6. The two teams played even over the next nine points to make it 18-11 in favor of UW. The Cowgirls continued to play solid as they scored the final seven of ten points to win set one, 25-14.

The momentum stayed on the side of Wyoming as some solid serving built them a 5-0 lead. A kill by Skye Gullatt go the Lobos on the board, but a 7-2 run increased the lead to 12-3. A service error by Nicole Walker ended the run for Wyoming, but the set was never close from that point on. UW held the Lobos to just four more points as they won the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match 25-8. The Cowgirls hit .600 (13-1-20) compared to -.200 (4-9-25) by New Mexico.

In the third set, Wyoming got off to another strong start by going ahead 5-1. UNM recorded three of the next four points to close the gap to 6-4. An attack error by Riddle would start an 8-4 run by Wyoming to give them a six point lead, 14-8. The Lobos were able to make it a four point contest, 15-11, but following that the Cowgirls proved to be too much. They closed it out on a 10-5 run to win the set, 25-16, and the match, 3-0.

The Cowgirls will be on the road for the final time next week with a two-match road swing to California. They will face the Fresno State Bulldogs, on Thursday, Nov. 21, and the San Jose State, on Saturday, Nov. 23. The first match is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. MT while the second match is set to begin at 8:30 p.m. MT.
