LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team had a successful day at the Northern Colorado spring tournament on Saturday, March 31.

With a split squad, each team went 3-0 overall in pool play to finish first. The Wyoming team defeated LCCC, Denver and Regis, while the Cowgirl team earned victories against Colorado School of Mines, Ft. Hays State and Western State.

In cross over matches, Wyoming beat Colorado State and Colorado School of Mines in three sets. The Cowgirl team defeated Denver and Northern Colorado.

"I'm proud of the team today," said head coach Carrie Yerty. "They competed and played well all day. It was exciting to beat Colorado State with a split squad and the competition was tough all day. Rachel (Keyes) and Whitney (Smith) did a solid job along with the liberos. Overall, the team played great all-around."

The Cowgirls will continue their spring workouts over the next several weeks and compete in two more tournaments. They are at the CSU Tournament on Saturday, April 14, before wrapping things up on Saturday, April 21, at the UNK Tournament.
