Wyoming Volleyball To Host Final Home Match, Face CSU On The Road

The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team will play their final home match against a non-conference opponent before heading out on the road in conference play. They will host the Colorado Christian Cougars, on Tuesday, Nov. 1, before taking on the 24th ranked Colorado State Rams, on Friday, Nov. 4. The Cowgirls enter the week with a 17-9 (.654) record overall and a 7-4 (.636) mark in the Mountain West after sweeping the week against UNLV and San Diego State last time out. Wyoming is currently led by Jodi Purdy who is averaging a team high 3.58 kills and 4.25 points plus 3.24 digs per set. She ranks third in kills and points, fourth in service aces and eighth in digs in the league. She is followed by redshirt freshman Erin Kirby who is adding 1.88 kills and 1.19 blocks, along with hitting .339 (182-47-398). Reese Plante is averaging two kills and 1.11 blocks, while Becky Stewart is leading the way with 3.77 digs per set. As a team, they are averaging 12.90 kills, 14.14 digs and 2.49 blocks per set. They rank second in blocks, third in hitting percentage and fourth in digs and kills.
Wyoming will play their final home match of the season against the Colorado Christian Cougars. The Cougars are 15-12 overall and 10-6 in the RMAC. They are led by Andi Weber who is averaging 2.79 kills and 2.51 digs per set. CCU returns five starters and eight letterwinners who went 20-17 overall and 8-10 in the RMAC a year ago.
This is third meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 2-0. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 13, 2010 as the Cowgirls defeated the Cougars, 3-0, in Laramie. CCU is coached by Verlyn Rosenthal who is in his second season.
The Cowgirls return to the road in conference play as they take on the 24th ranked CSU Rams, on Friday, Nov. 4. The Rams are 17-4 overall and 10-1 in the MW. They are led by Katelyn Steffan who is averaging 3.87 kills and 1.77 digs per set. CSU returns four starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 26-5 and 14-2 in the Mountain West a year ago.
This is 71st meeting between the two schools. CSU leads the series 51-19. The last time the two teams met was October 8, 2011 as the Cowgirls defeated the Rams, 3-2, in Laramie. CSU is coached by Tom Hilbert who is in his 15th season.
