Cowgirl Volleyball Falls To 22nd Ranked CSU Rams in Three
The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team (7-4 overall, 0-1 MW) opened up the 2013 MW conference season with a tough task as they faced the 22nd ranked Colorado State Rams (9-0 overall, 1-0 MW). They would fall in three sets (23-25, 22-25, 21-25) on Wednesday night in Ft. Collins. Senior Becky Stewart became the all-time school leader in digs with 1,280.

Wyoming Volleyball Earns First Conference Win Over Nevada
Behind 15 kills from senior Reese Plante, the Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team (11-7 overall, 1-3 MW) earned their first conference win of the season. They defeated the Nevada Wolf Pack (2-14 overall, 0-4 MW) in a three-set sweep (25-22, 25-15, 25-23) on Saturday afternoon in Reno.

The University of Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team returns to the UniWyo Sports Complex for a pair of Mountain West matches this week. UW looks for avenge its loss earlier this season to Border War rival No. 10 Colorado State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. MT. The University of Wyoming Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Laramie Detachment #777 of the Marine Corps League will team up to collect Toys For Tots at the match on Tuesday. Wyoming closes out the week by hosting Nevada on Thursday at 7 p.m.

UW dropped a pair of road matches last weekend. Wyoming fell to Utah State in four sets (22-25, 20-25, 31-29, 20-25) on Thursday and dropped a three-set (20-25, 25-27, 24-26) match to Boise State on Saturday. Against Utah State, the Cowgirls recorded a season-high 85 digs and recorded a MW season-high 60 kills.

Senior Reese Plante paced the UW offense over the weekend. Against Utah State, Plante tied a season-high with 16 kills, a mark she has obtained three times this season. Defensively, senior Becky Stewart made her return to the Cowgirls against Utah State and Boise State. Stewart tied a career-high with 33 digs against the Aggies, as she continues to lead the Cowgirls and the MW in digs per set at 5.36.

Colorado State heads into the weekend with 21-0 overall record and a 12-0 mark in the MW. The Rams are currently ranked No. 10 in the country. Last weekend, CSU picked up a pair of wins taking down Boise State in three sets on Thursday and defeating Utah State in five sets on Saturday. Colorado State leads the MW and ranks sixth in the nation in hitting percentage at .296 (1096-333-2575). The Rams also lead the MW in kills averaging 14.42 per set. Defensively, CSU leads the MW and ranks sixth in the nation in blocks at 2.97 per frame. Senior middle blocker Samantha Peters is second in the MW in hitting percentage at .398 (179-36-369). She also is second in the conference behind Wyoming's Erin Kirby in blocks averaging 1.47 per frame.

Nevada heads into Thursday night's contest with a 2-22 overall record and a 0-12 record in MW play. The Wolf Pack have dropped 15-straight matches dating back to Sept. 20. Last weekend, Nevada dropped a pair of home contests falling to Fresno State and San Jose State in three sets. The Wolf Pack offense ranks 11th in the conference in hitting percentage at .129 (866-523-2659)and kills averaging 10.56 per frame. Defensively, Nevada ranks 11th in the MW in digs per set at 11.50. The Wolf Pack are led by junior middle blocker Tessa Lea'ea, as she is averaging 2.70 kills per set. She also leads the team in blocks per set at 1.12.
