Road Matches Against TCU and New Mexico on Tap for Wyoming Volleyball

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming volleyball team will be out on the road for a pair of Mountain West Conference matches this week. They will face the TCU Frogs, on Thursday, Nov. 6, in Ft. Worth and the New Mexico Lobos, on Saturday, Nov. 8, in Albuquerque. The TCU match is set to begin at 6 p.m. MT, while the UNM match will start at 1 p.m.

Wyoming enters the week with a 4-15 (.211) record overall along with a 3-7 mark in conference play after earning a four-set victory over Air Force on Thursday, Oct. 30. The Cowgirls are currently led by outside hitter Dani Bedore who is averaging 3.07 kills, which is sixth in the MWC, and 1.56 digs per set. She is followed Lauren Whitney who is adding 2.80 kills and almost one dig per set. As a team, they are averaging 12.02 kills and 11.07 digs per set.

The Frogs enter the week with a 17-8 overall record and 6-6 in MWC play. They are led by Lauren Otto who is averaging 3.04 kills and 2.49 digs per set, while Kourtney Edwards is adding 2.30 kills and 1.19 blocks per set. TCU returns four starters and seven letterwinners that went 22-12 overall and 9-7 in the in the MWC a year ago. This is the 13th meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 8-4. The last time the two teams met was October 11, 2008 as the Frogs defeated the Cowgirls, 3-0 in Laramie. TCU is coached by Prentice Lewis who is in her seventh season with the program.

In their second match of the weekend, Wyoming will take on the New Mexico Lobos who are 18-5 overall, 8-4 in MWC play and will take on the Colorado State Rams before facing the Cowgirls. They are led by Jeanne Fairchild who is averaging 4.89 kills and one dig per set, while Anna Lehne is adding 2.18 kills and 1.34 blocks per set. UNM returns four starters and 11 letterwinners that went 16-13 overall and 7-9 in the in the MWC a year ago. This is the 70th meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 34-25. The last time the two teams met was October 9, 2009 as the Lobos defeated the Cowgirls, 3-0, in Laramie. New Mexico is coached by Jeff Nelson who is in his second season with the program.
