Lee Named Third Team Academic All-District VII

For the first time in her career, Carissa Lee, a senior on the University of Wyoming Women's Volleyball Team, was selected on Thursday to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Third Team. Lee, who has earned a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average in speech language and hearing science, was one of ten individuals to earn Third Team honors.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is a part of the Academic All-America program. Student-athletes are selected in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDA District VII is made up of the states of Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, must be at least a sophomore and must have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's matches.
Lee is a three-time Academic All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete selection during her career. She has played in all 19 matches and 71 sets this season and for her career 99 matches and 349 sets. She is averaging a team leading 2.72 digs per set, while for her career averaged 3.02 digs per set. She currently ranks third all-time in school history with 1,057 career digs. The Cowgirls are currently 4-15 overall and 3-7 in the Mountain West Conference.
