Angie Hellbaum Named Third Team Academic All-District VII

For the first time in her career, Angie Hellbaum, a senior on the University of Wyoming Women's Volleyball Team, was selected on Thursday to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Third Team. Hellbaum, who has earned a 3.62 cumulative grade-point average in communications, was one of eight individuals to earn Third Team honors.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is a part of the Academic All-America program. Student-athletes are selected in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDA District VII is made up of the states of Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of 3.20 cumulative grade-point average, must be at least a sophomore and must have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's games.
Hellbaum is a three-time Academic All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete selection during her career. She has started in 24 matches and played in 90 games this season and for her career 105 matches and 370 games. She is averaging 4.14 kills and 2.40 digs, while for her career averaged 2.54 kills and 1.14 digs. Earlier this season, she recorded a career high 33 kills and 69 attempts against Kansas (9/7/07). The Cowgirls are currently 11-13 overall and 5-10 in the Mountain West Conference.
