LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball team will close out the regular conference season at home this week. They will host the TCU Horned Frogs, on Thursday, Nov. 16, and the New Mexico Lobos, on Saturday, Nov. 18. The TCU match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. while the match against the Lobos will start at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

Wyoming enters the week with an 11-14 (.440) record and 5-9 in conference play after losing to both BYU and Utah on the road last week. The Cowgirls are currently led by junior outside hitter Rachel Smith, who is averaging 3.70 kills, which is sixth in the MWC, and 2.01 digs per game. She is followed closely by freshman Annie Meyers who is averaging 3.02 kills and 2.97 digs on the year. As a team, they are averaging 14.36 kills, 16.40 digs and have a .184 (1350-620-3964) hitting percentage. p> TCU is currently 17-13 overall and 5-10 in the MWC. They are led by Anna Vaughn who is averaging 3.51 kills and 1.01 blocks per game. They return five starters and ten letterwinners to a squad that went 16-18 overall and 3-13 in the Mountain West Conference a year ago. This is the ninth meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads 6-2. The last time the two teams met was Sept. 16, 2006 as the Frogs defeated the Cowgirls 3-0 in Ft. Worth. TCU is coached by Prentice Lewis who is in her fifth year with the program and as a head coach.

New Mexico comes in to the week 9-18 overall and 5-10 in the MWC. The Lobos are led by Jeanne Fairchild who is averaging 3.36 kills and 1.12 digs per game, along with Kelly Therkelsen who is adding 2.74 kills and .96 blocks per game. The Lobos return three starters and eight letterwinners to a squad that went 14-14 overall and 6-10 in the Mountain West Conference a year ago. This is the 56th meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 32-23 and has won the last nine in a row. The last time the two teams met was September 14, 2006 as the Cowgirls won the match 3-0. New Mexico is coached by Kelley McKee who is in her fifth season with the program and her 14th as a head coach.
