Wyoming Volleyball to Play Final Home Match

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming volleyball team will play their final home match of the season, on Friday, November 16, as they host the Air Force Academy Falcons. The match is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex.

Wyoming enters the week with a 11-13 (.458) record overall and a 5-10 mark in conference play after a loss against the 17th ranked Colorado State Rams last week. The Cowgirls are currently led by outside hitter Rachel Smith, who is averaging 4.63 kills, which is second in the Mountain West Conference, and 2.42 digs per game. She is followed closely by senior Angie Hellbaum who is averaging 4.14 kills and 2.40 digs, while leading way with the .244 (373-144-937) hitting percentage. As a team, they are averaging 15.38 kills, 15.31 digs and have a .210 (1384-613-3667) hitting percentage.

The Falcons are currently 7-22 overall and 0-15 in the MWC. They are led by Katie Batchelder who is averaging 2.62 kills and 2.28 digs per game. She is followed by Caroline Kurtz who is adding 2.23 kills and 2.45 digs per game. Air Force returns all six starters and 14 letterwinners to a squad that went 3-25 overall and 0-16 in the MWC last year. This is the 26th meeting ever between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 20-5. The last time the two teams met was September 11, 2007 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons 3-0 in Colorado Springs. Air Force is coached by Penny Lucas White who is in her 12th season with the program and her 17th as a head coach.
