Cowgirl Volleyball Returns Home Against League Leading Rams

The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team returns home for the first of their three final home matches this week. They will host the 15th ranked Colorado State Rams, on Thursday, Nov. 18. The match is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex. Live stats of the matches can also be followed on www.wyomingathletics.com.
Wyoming enters the week with a 22-7 (.759) record overall and 7-6 in the MWC after earning a split with New Mexico and TCU last weekend. The Cowgirls are currently led by sophomore Jodi Purdy who is averaging 3.30, which is sixth in the league, 2.65 digs and 4.06 points per set. She is followed by Lauren Whitney who is adding 2.61 kills and 2.27 digs. JennaRae Jester is averaging a team high 1.37 blocks, while Jadranka Tramosljanin in adding 4.18 digs per set. As a team, they are averaging 13.36 kills, 14.06 digs and 2.61 blocks per set.
The Rams are 23-3 overall and 12-1 in the Mountain West Conference after suffering their first conference loss last weekend against the New Mexico Lobos. They are currently ranked 15th in the AVCA Coaches Poll. CSU is led by Danielle Minch who is averaging 3.32 kills and 0.79 blocks per set. They return five starters and ten letterwinners to a team that went 25-6 overall and 15-1 in the Mountain West Conference a year ago.
This is 69th meeting between the two schools. CSU leads the series 50-18. The last time the two teams met was October 22, 2010 as the Rams defeated Wyoming, 3-0, in Ft. Collins. Colorado State is coached by Tom Hilbert who is in his 14th season with the program.
