Cowgirl Volleyball Wraps Up Season Against UNLV and SDSU

Wyoming will say goodbye to four seniors before the match on Friday evening. Outside hitter Calli Fry, setter Rachel Keyes, middle blocker Reese Plante and libero Becky Stewart will play their final game as a member of the Cowgirls.
UW continued their-red hot play last week extending their winning streak to five games. The Cowgirls own the longest winning streak for UW in Mountain West play. Wyoming defeated Fresno State in four sets last Thursday and followed that up with a five-set comeback win over San Jose State on Saturday. Wyoming outside hitter Bridget Shanahan was named Mountain West Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday. It marked the first time in her career that she has received the honor. Shanahan, a 6-2 sophomore from Hartland, N.Y., averaged 3.44 kills and 1.44 blocks per set over the two matches to go along with seven digs and a .348 attack percentage. Against Fresno State she recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 kills and a career-high 10 blocks. She also had two digs. In win over San Jose State, she led the Cowgirls with a career-high 19 kills to go along with three blocks and five digs. She hit .457 in the match.
UNLV heads into Wednesday’s contest with a 16-12 overall record and 11-7 mark in the MW, as UNLV sits fourth in the conference standings. The Rebels split last weekend winning in five sets against Utah State on Thursday and falling to Boise State in five sets on Saturday. UNLV is sixth in the MW in kills averaging 13.16 per frame. Defensively, the Rebels lead the league in digs at 15.61 per set. Senior Sekola Falemaka is fourth in the league in kills at 3.57 per set. Defensively, junior Allison Davies is fourth in the conference in digs averaging 4.24 per set.
San Diego State comes into Friday's contest sporting a 15-13 overall record and a 10-8 record in the MW. Last week, the Aztecs won both matches downing Boise State in four sets on Thursday and defeated Utah State in three sets on Saturday. SDSU is second in the MW in kills on the season averaging 14.28 per set. Defensively, the Aztecs are third in the MW in digs at 15.13 per frame. The Aztecs' offense is led by the duo of senior Summer Nash and junior Michelle Waber. Nash ranks fourth in the MW in kills at 3.57 per set. She also ranks fourth in the league in points with 3.99 per set. Waber is 10th in the conference in kills averaging 2.99 per frame.
